How I Braved Anu Aunty & Co-Founded A Million Dollar Company by Varun Agarwal

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book is a true story as narrated by an uber cool dude, the author and Entrepreneur Varun Agarwal. He starts off with the disclaimer that he is no hemingway but just a story teller, which becomes quite obvious within the first few pages. Rather, he could have warned us about his being uber cool. How does it matter, you may ask!
Well, It could have saved me from the temptation to count the number of swear words every page has or atleast I wouldn't have let my mind wander over the number of pubs in Bangalore. And yeah, finding six differences between uber cool dudes and the rest of the world, which mostly consists of those who run their dad's business and the techies who dutifully complete their engineering and work in infotechs and have no life because they are too busy building a website for an uber cool dude.
Coming back to the content of the book, this young turk, without doubts, has done a commendable job of turning a simple idea(which isn't too impressive according to me) into a million dollar company. Still, am not impressed leave alone being motivated by his story. Petty details like scribbling business plan on a tissue paper, travelling in unconfirmed ticket to find suppliers, delivering door to door in person doesn't help enough. I think 3 years in business is a very short time to write an auto-biography of sorts, neither is there a brand name to boast of nor is there rich experience to share. If writing an engaging coffee table book or a potential bollywood script is the intention, the author has succeeded substantially. But I personally feel, co-finding a million dollar company is more than just braving Anu aunties!
