Ranganna review and a Craft!

Apr 15, 2016

Book Title: Ranganna
Author: Arthi Anand Navaneeth
Illustrator: Kavita Singh Kale
Publisher: Tulika Books
Ranganna the little elephant lives near a dhobi ghat. He is captivated by the brightly coloured nails of his friends and wants to paint his toes too! But whoever heard of an elephant wearing nail polish?! The illustrations, which are a riot of colour and energy, make Ranganna one irresistible picture book.
The story of the elephant who loves colors and wants to color his toes with nail polish just like his friends. We have the Tamil version of this book. Apart from the sweet story, this book made me realize how my daughter is so used to english for everyday words(because we use it too). It helps in teaching her tamil words that we don't use in everyday speech like the equivalent of Color, Rainbow, Nail polish, River, Bubbles and more.

We also did a related craft. Since my daughter enjoys using glitter, we ended up giving Ranganna glittery toe nails :) You can print the template here.

Can't get enough of it :) Painting Ranganna's toe-nails with Markers this time.
