Title: Physicians in the Jungle
Author: Mini John
Illustrator: K R Raji
Publisher: Tumbi, D.C.Books
Leo the Lion is not a happy king as he is fast losing his eyesight. He declares that the physician who cures him will be made his minister. Fabi the crafty fox tries to cheat his way to success. But in the end it is Billu, the bear who is the hero of the day.
We recently rearranged our bookshelf, we put them in broad categories - English, Tamil, English by Indian publishers, General, Myth/Religion, Fairytales/Classics and so on. While the classification is broad, within each category we have a wide range from books that rhyme to art related to phonics to those that has morals, ones that instills virtues. And then there are books that are read just for the love of reading. And those are my favorite ones.

Physicians in the Jungle is one such. A simple story starring animals of the jungle. It makes me nostalgic about the animal stories I have read in Champak and Tinkle during my childhood. And that exactly is the reason this book is in our bookshelf. Simple stories that sit at the back of your mind. No instilling manners, no morals - such books are read just for pleasure :)
