What do you get when Facts meet Romance? You get Saved in Srilanka! I mean, Sepalika gets saved :) And you get to bask in the romance between Sepalika and Daniel. Sepalika, the tourist guide struggling to contain her free spirits within the confinement demanded by the situation. Daniel, the historic buff on tour to Srilanka. When the two of them come together, they are unable to resist falling in love. Sepalika is 'tied' while Daniel is hurt from a past relationship. Who makes or breaks the relationship is what ensues.

There are a number of things that make the story stay with you for long. Like the tour of Srilanka, the Cuisine, the Art, the Sepalika namesake to name a few. I have seen Coral Jasmine in my childhood(yes, had been that long since I saw them!) at my grandparent's place but I have never given it any special attention or thought. But the next time I see it, things are not going to be the same. I would remember Sepalika(meaning Coral Jasmine in Sinhalese, the female lead) and this book and Devika :) I am not sure if Sepalika is a common name in SriLanka or not, but kudos to Devika Fernando for choosing such a beautiful name and blending interesting tidbits about it in the story. Not to mention how the Author made the moment more magical with a hint of romance. An excerpt from the book,

“They’re not just beautiful,” she continued. “People believe they’ll help you sleepsoundly and dream sweetly if they are dried and stuffed into pillows. Experts in native medicineclaim it can help children with constipation.”“Fascinating,” he murmured and walked back to her, stopping right in front of her so shehad to crane her neck to peer into his deep, surprisingly dark eyes.“You know, the sepalika flower isn’t only praised for its beauty. Some people aren’t toofond of it because it looks bare and barren, and common and even sort of forlorn during daytime.They dub it the tree of sorrow, but every night the sweet-smelling flowers cause even the mostsorrowful people to smile and appreciate.”“There’s a whole story and lesson lingering in there,” Daniel said, whispering too.“Looks like they’re much more than fragrance…just like you’re much more than what meets the eye.”

A famous saying in Tamil says that a grain of rice is enough to check the doneness of a pot of rice.  That's exactly the case here. There are lots of such sizzling situations that makes reading this romantic novel a pleasure.
